We just finished up our homeschool co-op for this fall semester. We attend a co-op on Monday afternoon from 1-3 for ten weeks each semester. We have lots of enrichment classes to choose from and this fall we offered a Dulcimer class.
The kids got to make a dulcimer from a kit- a few critical things were done and sent with the kits given the age of the kids who chose to take the class and the rest the kids all did themselves. I10 adored this class and he is super excited to have his own handmade instrument.
Our pastor taught the class and while they were building, he talked to them about the history of the dulcimer and how it’s played.
They spent 9 weeks building it and one week learning to play and they played on our co-op night for the crowd. They sounded great.
I10 thought it would be fun to share with my blog readers and I agreed. He’s got a few errant notes in there, but this is the first instrument he’s played. I think he did pretty well!
