Meet Heather!
I’ve been teaching science for over 30 years in all sorts of settings. My goal is to bring science to your teens in a way that helps them to see how biology, chemistry, and environmental sciences affect our everyday lives in a very real way.
We’ll learn all the concepts of each discipline that is typical for high school and we’ll do it in a neurodivergent friendly way.
This is a low pressure learning environment for all teens to feel welcome!

Prior to homeschooling our children, I was a middle school science teacher, teaching grades 6 and 7, general and life sciences. As a homeschool mom, I taught our four quirky kids from K-12. Since retiring from homeschooling, I’ve been upgrading one and collecting other state teacher certifications through my Maryland Advanced Professional Teaching License to teach biology grades 7-12 in Maryland, New York, and (soon!) New Jersey.

Perfectly Poisonous Plants
During this ongoing 45 minute class, we’ll identify four poisonous plants from around the world, discuss their habitat, their toxicity, and how humans are affected. We’ll hand bind a field guide created from pages we’ve created throughout the class.
Microscopic Marvels
In this 16 week lab science course, we will observe specimens under the microscope, record discoveries in our scientific journals, read and write research abstracts, and identify the tools for historical and modern microscopy. Once your student completes the first semester, there’s already two more semesters waiting for your student to explore!
Chemistry Simplified Semester 1
A one credit year-long high school chemistry class for teens who are scared of chemistry! We’ll learn the basics of chemistry and how it affects the behaviors of the elements and compounds we experience everyday.
